MEFA After the Acceptance at MHS 4/10/14

 

On Thursday, April 10th at 11am in the Jenkins Auditorium, seniors are invited to attend the After the Acceptance Seminar with MEFA. This seminar will help students understand and analyze the financial aid you’ve been offered, determine how to pay the balance of your bill, and how to choose the right financing options for your situation. Please feel free to bring your financial aid award letters as there will be time for individual consultation.

Congratulations! The waiting is over and you’ve received your college acceptance packages. Now what?

The transition to college isn’t always easy and your concerns about paying for college aren’t like every other family’s. MEFA’s After the Acceptance Seminar provides college financing strategies that fit your needs. We’ll tell you about payment options, ways to minimize college loan debt, financial aid award letters and the billing process

What You’ll Learn…

Spring is the season for college decisions and conversations about affordability. Our After the Acceptance Seminar provides clear, straightforward advice on how you can finance a college education, so you can feel confident that you have a plan in place before you decide where to enroll. Topics include:

  • Payment options and ways to minimize college loan debt
  • Award letters and the billing process
  • Working with the financial aid office

MEFA representatives will also be available after the program to talk with you about your particular circumstances, so bring your financial aid award letters.

This event will take place in the MHS Jenkins Auditorium at 11am on Thursday April, 4th, 2013.

FREE Help Applying for Financial Aid for College!

FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a College Goal Sunday Program, is a non-profit, volunteer driven program in its 9th year providing free assistance to students and families seeking to complete the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The event will take place at Malden High School on January 27th, 2013 from 1pm-4pm.

MEFA Financial Aid Night @ MHS

SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, December 6th, 2012 @ 6:30pm

Parents and seniors are invited to MEFA Financial Aid Night on Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at 6:30pm in the Jenkins Auditorium. This program is offered through the MHS School Counseling Department and MEFA, the Commonwealth’s resource on planning, saving and paying for college. An experienced MEFA representative will provide an overview of the financial aid process, including types of financial aid, how to apply, and determining financing options for your family. Families are encouraged to download a copy of the PowerPoint Presentation or e-book beforehand at www.mefa.org/seniors. Translators will be available for support.

This is an important part of the Post-Secondary Planning Process. Hope to see you there!

MHS Scholarship Process 2012

For 2012, Malden High School seniors will be able to apply to a wide array of local scholarships. These scholarships were made possible by the generous members of our community. Seniors applying for scholarships should complete the following steps…

  •  Scholarships that do not have “MHS” listed in the “application/requirements” section may require an ADDITIONAL application that you can pick up in the Jenkins House office.
  • Please return your MHS Application (with resume/activities list and essay), along with additional applications to Ms. Marquardo in the Jenkins House office or in the Main Office.
  • You must attend Senior Night to receive any and all scholarships awarded in your name.

We hope all students will take advantage of this opportunity to apply for these scholarships and the generosity of the extended Malden Community.

REMEMBER: COMPLETED APPLICATIONS DUE BY MARCH 23rd. If students have any questions, they should contact their house guidance counselor as soon as possible!

FAFSA Day! Sunday, January 29, 2012

FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a College Goal Sunday Program, is a non-profit, volunteer-driven program in its 8th year providing free assistance to students and families seeking to complete the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FAFSA Day this year is Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Malden High School. The event starts at 2pm.

Families that participate will receive the following services:

  • Free assistance completing the FAFSA.
  • Access to experienced financial aid administrators, and FAFSA experts, available to answer FAFSA questions.
  • Guidance on the financial aid process and next steps after filing the FAFSA.

Parents must register at the FAFSA Day website!
