MEFA After the Acceptance at MHS 4/10/14


On Thursday, April 10th at 11am in the Jenkins Auditorium, seniors are invited to attend the After the Acceptance Seminar with MEFA. This seminar will help students understand and analyze the financial aid you’ve been offered, determine how to pay the balance of your bill, and how to choose the right financing options for your situation. Please feel free to bring your financial aid award letters as there will be time for individual consultation.



College Application Reminder!

Attention Seniors!

Please keep in mind you must send your own SAT scores to every college you are applying to through
Do this as soon as possible! It may take up to two weeks for your colleges to process the scores.

Hispanic College Fair Trip!

If you are interested in attending the Hispanic College Fair at Regis College on Tuesday, October 1st from 9:00am-noon, please see Mrs. Lipinski in the Holland House office before Friday, September 27th. You must get a permission slip from Mrs. Lipinski and sign-up. Space is limited so don’t wait! This is an amazing opportunity to start the college process and learn about many different colleges and universities.

Congratulations! The waiting is over and you’ve received your college acceptance packages. Now what?

The transition to college isn’t always easy and your concerns about paying for college aren’t like every other family’s. MEFA’s After the Acceptance Seminar provides college financing strategies that fit your needs. We’ll tell you about payment options, ways to minimize college loan debt, financial aid award letters and the billing process

What You’ll Learn…

Spring is the season for college decisions and conversations about affordability. Our After the Acceptance Seminar provides clear, straightforward advice on how you can finance a college education, so you can feel confident that you have a plan in place before you decide where to enroll. Topics include:

  • Payment options and ways to minimize college loan debt
  • Award letters and the billing process
  • Working with the financial aid office

MEFA representatives will also be available after the program to talk with you about your particular circumstances, so bring your financial aid award letters.

This event will take place in the MHS Jenkins Auditorium at 11am on Thursday April, 4th, 2013.

Juniors: May 4, 2013 SAT Registration Deadline Approaching

The last day to register for the May 4 SAT is Friday, April 5th at 11:59pm. If you are a Junior and want/need to take the May SAT, you must register by this date. Fee waivers are available from your counselor for those who are eligible.  Don’t pay a late charge, register today!

Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program now accepting applications!

The 2013 Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program application process begins! New this year, applications can be filled out online on the City of Malden website under “employment” beginning March 4, 2013 or you can click on: The quickest and most efficient way of submitting your application is through this online link and this option is strongly recommended.  Computers are available for use at The Malden Teen Enrichment Center, Malden High School and the Malden Public Library.  As a last resort, paper copies will be available at City Hall, 200 Pleasant Street in the Mayor’s Office, 6th floor.

The deadline for application submission is Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM. Students who are interested should see their MHS guidance counselor with any questions.

JWU On-the-Spot Admission Day 2/11/13

Attention Seniors,

Johnson & Wales University will be visiting Malden High School to conduct an On-the-Spot Admissions Day on Monday, February 11th! See your guidance counselor by February 5th if you are interested in attending this university and meeting with their representative on the 11th.

Johnson & Wales is located in Providence, Rhode Island. JWU offers many majors, but specializes in Business, Culinary Arts, and Communications. For more information on Johnson and Wales University, visit

Free SAT Prep Program: Let’s Get Ready!

Let’s Get Ready offers free SAT prep courses to seniors at Malden High School.  College students from Boston University will come to Malden High School to prepare students for the May 4th exam.  In addition, they will help students research colleges, work on applications, write personal statements and more.  The program also includes a presentation about financial aid and scholarships, and a college visit.  Let’s Get Ready runs Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00pm-9:00pm and starts on February 5.  For more information about this fun, free program, CLICK HERE.
